46'' interview watch in hand with Arthur Gerbi.
“The first affordable watch with cultured references.”
Why make a watch?
Because there were no affordable watches with cultured references.
How did you meet Antoine?
On the Garage Central project.
What about be-poles?
They helped us to design the dial. We talked a lot, really a lot. Antoine has the most beautiful watch in the world.
What’s your relationship with watches?
It’s a passion.
Your first watch?
A Swatch Grand Prix 1980.
Do you still have it?
No, but I will buy another.
How was the passion born?
My older brother had a watch with a sweeping hand. It made a different noise. It seemed to go faster. As a kid, I was fascinated. For me, it was an object of grown-ups.
So, one beautiful morning, you launched Merci into watchmaking
When you’re passionate, you’re often on the internet, on Instagram, etc., all grouped around the same theme. When I saw people of my age with the same passion, who liked the same things, I told myself that something had to be done.
And since the release of LMM-01?
I’ve become even more passionate.
How many watches do you have?
5, 6... I sell them, I buy them, it changes.
Do you also notice women’s watches?
I remember all the watches of the people I’ve met.
